In our rush to the future, we often forget about the past. Especially here in the Santa Clara Valley, where most of the economy is based around "making the future." But to truly appreciate a place, to truly know its character, you have to know its past. Since the 1850s Mountain View has gone through a variety of changes, from a stagecoach stop, to an agricultural center, to the high tech city of today.
In the following pages I hope to show you both Mountain View's history and heritage, and hopefully offer a better understanding of this community's past. The following three sections offer different looks at Mountain View's past.
